About Me

Hello there. My name is Jenny Bhatt. I’m a Free Agent, work-in-progress Financial Advisor, evolving author, former corporate executive and lifelong student.

Till early-2012, I worked in Corporate America across different industry sectors – as a manufacturing engineer, a marketeer and a strategy consultant. Having built this portfolio of business careers, I’m now in the process of preparing for the CFP® Certification Professional Education Program to become a Financial Advisor. I will be launching my independent financial advisory practice – AchieVitas Financial Advisory LLC – in mid-2013. You can read more about my transition in my first blog post.

My interest in self-employment goes way back. I grew up surrounded by entrepreneurs and small business owners. My father, at 70+, still runs his very successful business across 2 continents. Several of my friends have, over the last decade or so, launched enterprises of their own as well.

My interest in personal finance grew over time after hiring my first Financial Advisor a number of years ago. Back then, having moved from the UK to the US, I needed professional help to figure out how to manage my investments and taxes across 2 countries. The more I learned and read about personal finance, the more questions I had. Eventually, I decided that I would be better off seeking further education in this field – an opportunity for lifetime learning for myself while giving back to other Free Agents like me.

I write this blog for the sheer pleasure of sharing and connecting with others, while clarifying my own thinking on various topics.

While I’ve lived and worked my way around 6 countries (India, England, Germany, Scotland, France, USA), I now live in the heart of Silicon Valley, enjoying the almost year-round sunshine and irrepressible Californian optimism, while indulging my geekiness to its fullest.

I believe that a hot, sweet and strong cuppa tea (with milk) can help with most first-world problems. And, for that matter, so can a well-shaken large Cosmopolitan. For a more personal side of me, check out my Tumblr, Storyacious.com, where I share stories I love from various media – books, TV, movies, blogs, poems, music… life…
